Best Practice Best in Class - Standard 4: Communication Plan

Communication is a key driver of success for any employee recognition program. And in this day and age it should be easy, what with the Internet and email readily available, how difficult could it be? The answer is: quite difficult, especially in a large, people driven business. Effective communication engages and stimulates the audience.
The Scotiabank employee recognition program, known as “Applause”, is a leader when it comes to effective communication. It takes into account diverse employee culture, their job position and their job level. Communication is made available not only in English and French for Canadian employees, but also in Spanish for their large Latin American employee base. Communication is tailored to appeal to; branch employees, managers, recognition champions, and includes banners, tip sheets, and posters. Allowances are made for employees who must be in front of customers at certain hours, so their communication, such as annual launch meetings, are scheduled for outside these hours. Scotiabank encourages their people to get involved in communication, such as by making their own fun videos. One Team. One Goal. Four simple words, but a powerful statement of success.
