While the desire to be recognized is universal, how it is practiced and delivered varies around the world. Our international panel of recognition experts will review these differences in the borderless world we now live in.

In this session you will:

  • Learn about the state of the global recognition industry.
  • Understand the global differenced in recognition giving.
  • Realize the recognition similarities between regions which points towards a constant in human nature. Understanding this will allow people to better understand the art of effective recognition giving.

Named as one of the Ten Best and Brightest Women in the Incentive Industry by Incentive Magazine, Michelle has worked every facet of recognition and incentives, both domestically and internationally. A highly rated international speaker, writer, and consultant on performance improvement, Michelle is a respected authority on human capital management, global recognition, and investment. She earned both the Certified Professional of Incentive Management and Certified Recognition Professional designations as a charter year recipient and has advised many of the world's most successful corporations.

Michelle is the President of the Board of Trustees of the Forum for People Performance Management and Measurement at Northwestern University and active in the Global Incentive Council, and serves on the Board of Directors for Recognition Professionals International. She was the founder of IMA's Mentor Program, and is co-founder of the Online Incentive Council.


Christophe Laval
President

After having held management positions in HR and various international groups (Shlumberger, Quaker Oats, Yoplait, Compass Group), Christophe Laval directed Enterprise & Personnel, a network of 150 companies, on HR management. He is a graduate of I'Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris and has a bachelor of law from the Universite de Paris. Today, he devotes himself to the promotion of manager non-monetary recognition. He is the first person from Europe to have obtained his Recognition Professionals International certification and has been designated as a "trainer of work recognition trainers" by the Occupational Health and Safety Management Group of Laval University (Quebec).



Tom Miller
President and CEO
THE MILLER COMPANY

Tom founded The Miller Company in 1992. Prior to starting his own company, Tom spent six years in the performance improvement and recognition industry. While driving The Miller Company's rapid growth, Tom has maintained a passion for staying on the front edge of industry trends such as internal branding, the creation of recognition systems, and has development of peer-to-peer recognition programs. Tom is a member of Recognition Professionals International and has served in various leadership capacities and is currently serving as President of the Board of Directors. He is a co-founder of The Recognition Council, a Strategic Industry Group within the Incentive Marketing Association. Tom is a 1983 graduate Baylor University, a Certified Recognition Professional, and is currently enrolled in a Masters program at England's Oxford University, which is jointly run with HEC Executive Education at the HEC School of Management, Paris. He now lives with his family in Colleyville, Texas.


Peter Hart

RIDEAU RECOGNITION SOLUTIONS

Peter Hart has been one of the driving forces in transforming Rideau from a small manufacturer of award products to one of the world's fastest growing R&R providers. Peter has been an active member of RPI since 2001 and has served on their Board of Directors since 2004. In early 2007, Peter pioneered the creation of the Recognition Council, a Strategic Industry Group (SIG) within the Incentive Marketing Association (IMA) which helps provide recognition best practice guidance to the industry. He now serves as acting President of the Recognition Council. In 2008, Ernst & Young Chose Peter as a finalist for their Entrepreneur of the Year award. The same year, for the fifth year running, Magazine HRO Today chose him as one of North America's top 33 HR providers. In 2007, Peter accepted the Grande Mention award at the Grands Prix Quebecois on behalf of the company. Peter has worked and lived in the Republic of Ireland.
